A Canadian Story of Big Ideas
Some of the world's most important breakthroughs were made right here in Canada. Insulin. The pacemaker. Stem cell research. The computer science that powers much of the technology we use today. Behind every one of those discoveries was a person with a big idea and the tools to chase it.
Today, one of those tools is advanced computing. It's what helps a researcher find a cancer treatment faster, a hospital read a scan more clearly, a student learn on world-class technology, and a Canadian company grow instead of moving abroad.

Our Proposed Oakville Campus
BUZZ is looking at building a privately funded Sovereign Digital Innovation Campus on Oakville's Employment Lands. Planned as a private investment of more than $3.5 billion, the campus would provide safe, Canadian-controlled computing power for scientific research, healthcare, and the online services used by Canadian businesses, schools, research groups, and government.
The Goal
The goal is to give Canadian students, researchers, businesses, and governments the computing power they need to compete in the world economy for decades to come, while keeping sensitive data, ideas, and economic value here in Canada.
Oakville is a great fit for this project. It has a well-educated workforce, industrial land that is ready to use and close to major roads, the electricity supply the campus needs, and it sits near universities, hospitals, and businesses that all rely on advanced computing.
If approved, the campus would bring lasting value to Oakville and the wider region:

One of the largest digital infrastructure investments in Oakville's history, creating hundreds of construction jobs and long-term skilled roles.

Every dollar of the $3.5 billion investment, including all the power and utility work, is privately funded by BUZZ.

Why Canadian-Owned Computing Matters
Canadian-owned computing, or "Sovereign compute," means advanced computing that is owned, operated, and kept here in Canada, on Canadian soil and under Canadian law. Countries need their own computing infrastructure. It helps protect information, attract investment, create skilled jobs and compete globally.
Today, more than 90% of this capacity sits outside our borders, which means Canada depends on other countries for the computing power that runs our economy, our research, and our public services.
BUZZ is filling a massive gap in Canada's own computing capacity. By building it here, we help Canadian schools, hospitals, and businesses stay competitive on the world stage, keep our brightest people and their ideas at home, and safeguard the privacy and security of Canadians' data for decades to come.

These facilities use a lot of electricity, and we take that seriously. Here's what matters most for your household: this project is privately funded. BUZZ pays for its own power connection and the upgrades it needs. Those costs are not passed on to residents, and your electricity bill or property taxes will not go up because of BUZZ's operations. We work closely with Ontario's electricity system operators so the facility does not take power away from local homes and businesses or affect reliability, and we draw on Canada's clean power sources while reusing the heat our equipment makes wherever we can.

Our buildings use a "closed-loop" cooling system. Think of it like the coolant in a car: the same water keeps circulating around and around in a sealed loop to carry heat away, instead of being used up and drained. Because the water is reused over and over, the facility does not need a steady supply of town water to run. We also look for ways to capture and reuse rainwater, follow global best practices for using water wisely, and report our water use publicly every year.

No. Our facilities are designed so that people in nearby homes and businesses should not hear them.Noise control starts before construction. Independent acoustical experts measure existing sound levels and model every major source of sound. The facility is then designed to operate below municipal and provincial limits, with an added safety margin.
We use quiet equipment, sound-insulated enclosures, barriers, vibration isolation and careful site planning to contain sound. The site’s industrial location, adjacent highways and natural urban separators provide added distance from nearby residential areas. After the facility begins operating, independent experts test actual sound levels to confirm that the approved target has been met. If it has not, BUZZ will add further noise controls and retest. Residents will also have a clear way to raise concerns, and every concern will be investigated promptly.

They create a lot of jobs, both while we build and long after we open. During construction, we hire local trades and workers to build the facility. Once it's running, there are steady, well-paying careers in areas like engineering, day-to-day operations, cybersecurity, and keeping the building running.
The jobs don't stop at our front door. We buy goods and services from local businesses, which helps other companies in the area grow and hire too. The result is new money and new opportunities that stay in the community for years to come.

Construction will temporarily increase traffic as workers, equipment and materials arrive at the site. BUZZ will prepare a construction traffic plan covering truck routes, delivery times, road safety and site access. The Town will review and approve that plan.
Once open, the campus will generate far less daily traffic than many other industrial or warehouse uses. Most activity takes place inside the building, with a limited number of employees, service vehicles and scheduled deliveries each day.

The site is within Oakville’s designated Employment Lands and is separated from residential areas by existing industrial uses, highways, creek corridors, wooded areas and other natural buffers.
The campus will use high-quality architecture, substantial landscaping, setbacks, tree planting and screened mechanical and electrical equipment. Lighting will also be designed to reduce spill into surrounding areas.
The Town will review the building design, landscaping, lighting and views from nearby locations before approving the project. BUZZ’s goal is to create an attractive, modern campus that complements Oakville’s character.

No. The equipment inside the campus is built to run very smoothly. Too much vibration would affect how it works, so the facility is designed to keep vibration low from the start.The project would also follow all required building and engineering rules.

The campus is not a factory. It does not make industrial smoke, smells, or pollution as part of normal operations. Like many large buildings, it has systems that help it run safely and reliably. Its main purpose is to provide secure advanced computing.
